Four Seasons Hotel Houston, 1300 Lamar in downtown, is pleased to announce the addition of Astrid Calderon as Catering and Private Dining Rooms manager for Quattro, the hotel’s award-winning restaurant.
Calderon is a real-life Eloise, having grown up in a hotel. She was born in Belgium but moved to Houston when very young, and lived in a small hotel in Houston’s Texas Medical Center area owned by her family. “It was very exciting, and I got to meet people from all over the world,” says Calderon, who speaks Spanish, Dutch and Portuguese. “We were always planning parties, barbecues and other events for the guests, and my brother and I would put on magic shows to entertain them. It wasn’t the typical childhood!”
At age 12, Calderon moved with her parents and brother to a home in Bellaire, where she eventually attended and graduated from Bellaire High School. She received a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of Houston’s Conrad N. Hilton School, and started her own corporate and special events company. She joined the Four Season team as a Sales and Catering Coordinator in August 2011.
As Catering and Private Dining Rooms Manager, Calderon will work with guests to plan the perfect event. “All of my life experiences, from growing up in a hotel and planning events with my family to my university degree and work at many internships, will be put to good use in my new position,” says Calderon. “I love working with the guests and the kitchen team and getting to use my creative side.”
Calderon is a Member of NACE, and in her free time she volunteers for Special Olympics and is also a triathlon enthusiast – she has completed 10 triathlons so far.
